Reporting to the Senior Director, Learning, Innovation and Applied Educational Research, the Manager, Research will
be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to manage the day to day operations of the Applied
Educational Research department.
POSITION SUMMARY
- Provides leadership and consultation in the development and implementation of key Michener strategies for research, scholarship, and education.
- Provide leadership, supervision, coaching and direction to support continuous learning and professional development the Applied Educational Research team.
- Responds to requests of faculty, staff and students to creatively and appropriately promote, evaluate, assess and research Michener initiatives.
- Designs data collection frameworks and leads project team to collect primary and secondary data.
- Analyses data for institutional tracking and reporting.
- Consults and collaborates with internal and external partners for the purpose of advancing evaluation, research and scholarship.
- Participates in professional and collaborative research activities yielding a variety of scholarly results, ranging from conference attendance to publication, grant submissions, etc.
- Participates in relevant committees at Michener for the development, progression and assessment of scholarship.
- Identifies and analyses research, best practices and emerging trends in education and health care.
- Ensures compliance with ethical, legal and regulatory standards and protocols.
- Budgeting and financial management including preparation of annual budget, monitoring and approving expenditures.
- Ability to implement continuous quality improvement methods and tools in an educational environment.
- Responsible for ongoing collection and reporting of key performance indicator data.
- Provides oversight to the Michener’s Institutional Research Review Committee and Research Ethics Board.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant Masters degree
- Three to five years leadership and management experience (minimum)
- Research and ethics experience (statistics, quantitative and qualitative research methods, ethics, etc.)
- Strong project management skills
- Extensive experience in education
- Experience managing budgets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including professional and technical report writing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to supervise and inspire others in a collaborative team
- Superior organizational skills.
