This is an excellent permanent opportunity where the Manager, Student Services, underthe general direction of the Associate Dean and the Director Academic and Student Services, manages all student services functions including recruitment and admissions, records, advising and student enrolment, as well as liaison and communications. The manager is also responsible for the financial and human resources in the Undergraduate Student Services unit. The incumbent recommends and participates in the development of Faculty and University policies and procedures.
Education:
University degree.
Experience:
3-5 years progressive experience in student services in a post-secondary setting, including admissions, registration and advising. Experience with planning, analysis, policy development, managing staff in a unionized environment and operational management of a complex unit.
Skills/Knowledge:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; presentation skills. Superior planning and organizational skills, including managing multiple demands. Ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively in a high volume and fast pace environment. Interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and client conflict resolution. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Demonstrated strong initiative, commitment to excellence, innovation, effective change management, and proven ability to achieve results. Demonstrated experience of systems i.e. York University’s student information system (or similar). Experience integrating other systems for admission and advising purposes. Managerial and financial management skills. Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office.
